Happy Mental Health Awareness Month!
This song is called Doubt, and is based on my experience dealing with social anxiety and, of course, self-doubt.
I was quite a shy little kid - I never talked much in class. I still remember taking courses in school where there was a participation requirement (meaning we had to raise our hands and answer the teacher's questions in front of the class) and I had to try so hard to force myself to do it, lol. I fumbled over my words often when giving presentations or doing interviews for jobs. Sometimes I think it's funny that I ended up becoming a musician. For some reason performing feels easier than speaking.
Now that I'm older, I've built up my confidence a little more, but sometimes I still feel like the little kid I was back in school.
I'm hoping some of you guys might be able to relate to this song. If you do, I hope it brings you a little peace in knowing that you're not alone in dealing with social anxiety!
Fun fact about this video - when I was in New York, I had a pot of bell peppers growing on the fire escape. A mama bird decided to create a nest and lay her eggs under the bell pepper plant. I had the honor of watching her two chicks grow over the course of three months! The reason why I used these clips in this video is because I feel like the mama bird has so much more confidence in doing what she's doing as a bird, and sometimes I wish I had that same confidence.
