Hello everyone,
I wrote this song back in April. Things were tough back then; it was the second month of shelter in place, and I was dealing with the fallout from my breakup, trying to figure out where I was going to live, and struggling to stay productive and write music.
I ended up forgetting to water some of my houseplants. I went paranoid and started watering them like crazy, even when I knew I had watered them the day before. I was so worried that they would die. They were one of the few keepsakes I brought back with me from New York.
They died anyway. I had overwatered them.
While throwing them away, I reflected on my relationship with my ex. It made me wonder whether or not I had loved him too much and suffocated him, just like I did with my houseplants. I took out my laptop and started writing this song.
