I wrote this song about a friend I had years ago. We no longer speak to each other, unfortunately. We had a huge falling out due to money and other issues.
At the time I felt like we were such different people, and it was our differences that pushed us apart. Now looking back, I realize how similar we both were. I think we were both young and we didn’t know how to communicate. We expected perfection from each other, and when it didn’t happen, it was easier to cut each other out of our lives.
Just like with my breakup, I wish everything had happened differently. I learned so much from the experience though. Someone told me that grief is a catalyst for change, and I truly believe them now.
